In light of a public discussion and broadcast media story about a property located in Sharpstown Country Club Terrace 3, the SCA provides the following statement to the public:

The Sharpstown Civic Association was made aware of the now media identified construction, and has been working with the property owner to ensure that the structure meets all architectural guidelines, deed restrictions relating to permitted use, as well as City of Houston building codes.

The project started earlier in the year, stopped during the SCA approval process, and began again a few weeks ago. To be clear, an SCA representative visited the site  the week of November 9th, 2015, discussed the matter with the property owner, and encouraged a meaningful dialogue and resolution to the issue.

With the property owner appearing to proceed without delay, the SCA Board of Directors authorized legal counsel to communicate a “cease and desist” letter, working to avoid construction that would appear to violate our deed restrictions. Over the next week legal counsel for both parties were in touch, with a potential interim agreement close at hand. Given the inability to reach such a temporary agreement, and with continued construction by the property owner, the SCA proceeded to District Court.

Last week on Wed. November 24th, in the matter 201570849 – SHARPSTOWN CIVIC ASSOCIATION INC vs. HUANG, SHUO (Court 011) a temporary restraining order was issued by the presiding judge, barring any construction until a future hearing can be held. The SCA remains strictly limited in what  information about this matter may be shared. We’re encouraged a prompt resolution will be at hand.
